Roger Dearborn Lapham scrapbooks, 1913-1971.

Consists of newspaper clippings, the bulk of which concern San Francisco politics in the context of Lapham's mayoral activities, with emphasis on city labor disputes, public power, and city transit, particularly a controversy over whether to keep San Francisco cable cars; overseas travel ephemera, including menus, maps, itineraries, passenger lists, and other items from round-the-world flight tours and other international voyages; World War I memorabilia, including a book on the U.S. Army 77th division, in which Lapham served, and a book entitled, "Plattsburger 1917," on the officers training camp; and clippings and ephemera related to Lapham's diplomatic activities in China and Greece following World War II. Also includes Minority Reports I-III (four parts each), a set of six LP records produced by CBS-KNX News in cooperation with The Fund for the Republic.

The American-Hawaiian Steamship Company was founded in 1899 by George S. Dearborn and his brother-in-law, Lewis Henry Lapham. Lapham was the head of the American-Hawaiian Steamship Company beginning in the 1920s. He served as mayor of San Francisco from 1944-1947. He also served as a U.S. Army officer in World War I, Chief of the American Economic Aid Mission to Greece, 1950-1951, and head of the Economic Cooperation Administration in China, 1948-1949.
